Launched on 1/12, the Mitsubishi Destinator has garnered significant attention at dealerships, becoming one of the most sought-after products among consumers. Approximately 2,000 Destinator purchase agreements were completed just one week after its debut.
Previously, the Xpander, the segment's sales leader, required 5 months to reach the 2,000-unit sales mark. The Xforce, a B-segment compact crossover (CUV), took nearly 4 months to achieve the same milestone.

While launching with thousands of orders in its first month is not uncommon in Vietnam's automotive industry, this initial success highlights the Destinator's potential in a segment where, apart from the Mazda CX-5 and Ford Territory, most competitors do not reach 1,000 average monthly sales.
According to VnExpress sources, approximately 75% of Destinator pre-orders are for the top-tier Ultimate variant, priced at 855 million dong. The remaining orders are for the Premium variant, which costs 780 million dong. For December, the Japanese automaker is offering promotional prices for these two versions: 808 million dong for the Ultimate and 739 million dong for the Premium.
Priced between 739-808 million dong, the Destinator is among the most accessible vehicles in the C-segment. This Mitsubishi model effectively creates a new sub-segment as the only high-ground-clearance 7-seater vehicle available for under 810 million dong. Other 7-seater CUV options, such as the Honda CR-V and Volkswagen Tiguan, are priced at over one billion dong. The Destinator's initial popularity also benefited from the CX-5 nearing the end of its product cycle, with no new version yet launched.
The Destinator's arrival brings new optimism for Mitsubishi following the Outlander's discontinuation. The Japanese automaker's approach with the Destinator mirrors that of its previous best-selling models, the Xpander and Xforce, by focusing on practicality, enhanced comfort, and technology at an affordable price point for an imported product.
The Mitsubishi Destinator is currently imported from a factory in Indonesia. In contrast, many of Vietnam's current best-selling vehicles, such as the CX-5, Territory, and Hyundai Tucson, are domestically assembled.
The first shipment of Destinators arrived at dealerships in early December, making them available for immediate delivery to customers before the Lunar New Year (Tet).
Following its launch event in TP HCM, the Mitsubishi Destinator is scheduled to appear in Hanoi at the Vietnam Mobility Show 2025 (VnMS), organized by VnExpress newspaper. The event will take place from 26-28/12 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) in Dong Anh.
