Subaru Forester sees record price reduction of over 300 million dong

For the first time, 2024 model year Forester vehicles are receiving a highest cash discount of 310 million dong, bringing the price down to 839 million dong in june.

The official distributor of Subaru in Vietnam announced one of the highest promotional programs since the launch of the Thailand-imported Forester. The iL-EyeSight variant is priced at 839 million dong, a 260 million dong reduction from its suggested retail price. The iS-EyeSight variant is 889 million dong, with a 310 million dong reduction. Additionally, the vehicles include other complimentary accessories.

Significant price reductions for the Subaru Forester are not new. Previously, the 2024 C-segment CUV also saw substantial discounts, but these often depended on dealer policies, with customers negotiating to convert complimentary accessories to reach similar values. However, the june promotion offers a direct cash discount of over 300 million dong, marking the highest such offer to date.

This deep discount is primarily due to the distributor's strategy to clear existing stock. Starting from 2025, the Forester manufacturing plant in Thailand, a joint venture between Tan Chong and Subaru Japan, ceased operations. New generation Forester vehicles are currently imported from Japan and have been available in Vietnam since late 2025. The distributor stated that only a limited number of older Forester models remain at dealerships.

The Subaru Forester is positioned in the C-segment CUV category. With post-promotion prices ranging from 839 to 889 million dong, the Forester becomes more accessible to consumers. However, compared to top-selling C-segment CUV rivals like the Mazda CX-5 (699-979 million dong) and Ford Territory (739-875 million dong), the Forester's price remains considerably higher.

The 2024 Thailand-imported Forester is equipped with a two-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, producing 156 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 196 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It features a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven simulated gears and an all-wheel drive system.

Forester customers are typically individuals with a distinct personality and a particular fondness for the Subaru brand. They value the safety philosophy and the unique driving dynamics provided by the boxer engine and all-wheel drive (AWD). For many owners, price is not the primary consideration when comparing the Forester to other segment options.

Due to its higher price, and a design and feature set less tailored to Vietnamese preferences, sales of the imported Subaru Forester are considerably more modest compared to its locally assembled Japanese, Korean, and American rivals. The company does not release Forester sales figures but states it is the brand's flagship model in Vietnam.

The new generation Japan-imported Forester is currently priced between 1,299 and 1,399 billion dong. It features a 2,5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, delivering 182 horsepower and 247 Nm of peak torque at 3,700 rpm, coupled with all-wheel drive.
