The incident occurred after the flatbed truck came to a stop at the intersection. According to the New Straits Times, the unsecured dump truck likely caused the accident. Its weight and inertia caused it to slide forward when the flatbed truck stopped.
Images from the scene revealed the truck's cabin was completely deformed, with glass shards and debris scattered across the ground. Rescue teams had to cut open the driver's side door to extricate the two victims before a crane lifted the dump truck.
