On 14/11, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued a plan for the reorganization and internal restructuring of administrative agencies, public service units, and state-owned enterprises within its jurisdiction.
The plan outlines the merger of the three lottery companies – Can Tho, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang. All are 100% state-owned enterprises with similar operating models and business sectors. This merger aims to enhance operational efficiency and streamline the organizational and management structure.
These companies currently contribute significantly to local budget revenue annually. It is projected that by 2026, they will account for approximately 25% of the city's total budget revenue, provide employment for many workers, and carry out numerous social welfare activities.
Therefore, after the merger, the proposed plan is to retain the three lottery drawing days as before. These are Wednesday (for Can Tho and Soc Trang lotteries) and Saturday (for Hau Giang lottery). Since two drawings fall on Wednesday, the locality has proposed that the Ministry of Finance reschedule one to a different, suitable day, while keeping the names Can Tho Lottery, Soc Trang Lottery, and Hau Giang Lottery for their respective drawing days.
Financial data from 2024 highlights the significant revenues from these companies. Can Tho Lottery Company and Soc Trang Lottery Company each achieved revenues of 6,450 billion VND, contributing 2,000-2,200 billion VND to the state budget. Hau Giang Lottery Company reported revenues exceeding 6,000 billion VND, with a budget contribution of 1,800 billion VND.
