DHL increases shipping capacity between Hong Kong and Malaysia

DHL Express has boosted its air freight capacity on the Hong Kong (China) – Penang (Malaysia) route to meet the increasing demand in both markets.

The upgraded service now uses a Boeing 767F aircraft, replacing the previous Airbus A321. This change adds 20 tons of cargo capacity per flight to the company's Far East network.

Operating daily in partnership with Raya Airways, the route supports the rapid transport needs of technology and semiconductor manufacturers in Northern Malaysia's industrial hub. The Boeing 767F offers better range and payload capabilities, allowing for increased cargo volume and improving connectivity for businesses in Penang with Hong Kong and other international markets.

Previously, DHL noted that increased supply on intra-Asia and Asia-Europe trade lanes did not significantly affect business operations. During its Q3 investor meeting, the company stated that no price adjustments were required despite market capacity fluctuations.

The German logistics group reported Q3 air freight volume at 444,000 tons, a 0.2% decrease compared to 445,000 tons in the same period of 2024. This reflected "nearly unchanged growth momentum compared to Q2."

DHL is a global logistics leader, offering express delivery, freight transportation, warehousing, and supply chain solutions across more than 220 countries and territories. DHL Express, its international express delivery arm, is known for operating the world's largest dedicated air transport network and providing strong global connectivity.
