Forbes magazine on 3/2 estimated Elon Musk's net worth increased by 84 billion USD to 852 billion USD. The adjustment occurred after Musk announced that the aerospace company SpaceX had acquired the artificial intelligence startup xAI.
After the merger, the new company was valued at 1,250 billion USD. Forbes estimated Musk currently holds 43% of the shares in the combined company, valued at 542 billion USD.
Previously, Musk held 42% of SpaceX shares, valued at 336 billion USD. He also owned about 49% of xAI shares, valued at 122 billion USD.

SpaceX is currently Musk's most valuable asset, far surpassing other holdings. He also owns 12% of electric vehicle maker Tesla, valued at 178 billion USD, along with stock options worth an additional 124 billion USD. This figure does not include the record compensation package approved by Tesla shareholders in 11/2025, which could provide Musk with up to 1,000 billion USD in stock over the next 10 years.
This is the second time in less than one year that two of Musk's companies have merged. Last March, Musk announced the consolidation of xAI with X. At that time, xAI was valued at 80 billion USD, and X at 33 billion USD. However, Musk being both the buyer and seller in these deals raised questions about the valuations he provided.
Despite this, SpaceX is expected to go public (IPO) later this year. This will subject the company to public market scrutiny.
Over the past year, Musk has repeatedly set new net worth records. In 10/2025, he became the first person in the world to own 500 billion USD, after Tesla's stock price nearly doubled in five months since Musk announced he would leave the Government Performance Board (DOGE) to focus more on the electric vehicle company.
By 15/12, Musk continued to become the first to reach the 600 billion USD mark, after investors valued the aerospace company SpaceX at 800 billion USD, double its valuation in 8/2025.
Four days later, Musk's net worth rose to 700 billion USD, when the Delaware State Supreme Court reversed a lower court's ruling, enabling Musk to receive a stock award package worth over 100 billion USD from Tesla.
Musk's net worth is currently 578 billion USD higher than that of the world's second richest person – Google co-founder Larry Page.
