Following the US announcement to delay reciprocal tariffs and agree to talks with Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh established a government negotiation delegation. Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien leads this delegation. Since early May, Vietnam's technical exchange delegation has engaged in bilateral trade negotiations with relevant US agencies.
Under the joint statement on the framework for a reciprocal, fair, and balanced trade agreement on 26/10, Vietnam will expand market access for most US industrial and agricultural goods. Conversely, the US maintains 20% reciprocal tariffs on goods originating from Vietnam and is considering applying 0% tariffs to some products. Both nations committed to cooperate in addressing non-tariff barriers impacting bilateral trade in relevant sectors.
