As part of the International Tea Festival 2025 activities, Tea & Talk focused on the theme "Gen Z and cultural identity in an era of growth". The seminar aimed to use tea culture as a bridge for Gen Z to better understand tradition, enabling them to confidently promote Vietnam's image to the world.
During the event, speakers engaged in discussions, offering students a clearer perspective on the contemporary landscape and the challenges involved in forging personal identity. This helped young people assess their strengths and weaknesses, and embrace the values found in tea culture to deepen their individual character.

Speaker Tri The noted that Gen Z possesses several distinct advantages, including a digital native mindset, an independent spirit, the ability to express individuality, and openness to differences. This generation also prioritizes meaningful values, showing concern for society and the environment.
However, this group also faces economic pressures, the explosion of digital entertainment, and rapid technological change, which can make many young people feel "left behind". Crucially, they must navigate global cultural integration even before their personal identities are fully formed, making it challenging to maintain a stable cultural foundation for themselves.
Tri The explained that Gen Z's identity is supported by five layers of value: humanity, generation, nation, family, and individual. Among these, personal identity, the element that creates distinctiveness, is shaped by psychology, physiology, worldview, career, and spiritual life.
Technology and globalization are reshaping the habits, value systems, and cultural thinking of Vietnamese Gen Z, but they also pose challenges in choosing, preserving, and promoting sound values. The values found in a cup of tea, such as: stillness, connection, respect, and sharing, can become elements that help young people find balance in a fast-paced life, appreciate their roots, and nurture their own cultural identity.
