The Academy uses three distinct admission methods for its civilian programs. These methods include: direct admission and priority admission; utilizing scores from the HSA competency assessment exam by Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the V-ACT exam by Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; and considering high school graduation exam scores.
For the HSA exam, the Academy specifically considers candidates who took science subjects. Admissions are based on scores from three combinations: Q01 (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Q02 (Physics, Chemistry, History), and Q03 (Physics, Chemistry, Geography).
For the high school graduation exam score method, the three combinations used are A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), and A0T (Math, Physics, Informatics). Candidates can convert their English scores if they have an IELTS certificate of 5.5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 55 or higher. The IELTS conversion rates for civilian program candidates at the Military Technical Academy are as follows:

Candidates can also receive up to three bonus points during admission. This applies if they have a third prize or higher in a provincial-level excellent student competition, hold an IELTS or TOEFL iBT certificate not used for English score conversion, or possess an SAT certificate with a score of 1068/1600 or an ACT score of 18/36 or higher.
Regarding tuition fees, the Military Technical Academy charges VND 20,9 million for the 2026-2027 academic year (calculated for ten months). Although this represents an increase of VND 2,4 million compared to last year, this tuition fee remains among the lowest across technical universities today.
This marks the second year the Military Technical Academy has resumed admitting students to its civilian programs, following a six-year hiatus. Last year's admission scores for MTA's civilian programs ranged from 20,25 to 26,51, with automation engineering having the highest score.
