The book explores a fundamental question: "Who is responsible when artificial intelligence (AI) makes a wrong decision?" It systematizes principles, tools, and methods to help organizations manage AI, particularly as nations develop legal frameworks and businesses scale AI adoption.
The book's content is designed for practical application. The author states, "I believe AI should not replace humans but elevate them, and this only happens when we build trust through established mechanisms, measurement, and accountability." Starting with the foundational concepts of AI ethics, he expands into topics such as data governance, risk assessment, algorithmic transparency, accountability, privacy, oversight mechanisms, and fostering an AI culture within organizations.
The author views AI ethics not as a barrier to innovation but as a condition for its sustainable development. In the "Expert Corner" section, Dao Trung Thanh writes, "I have seen many organizations rush into AI like a race; everyone loves speed, but few bother to check the brakes. Life, however, is like a foggy mountain road; without brakes, speed only leads to an accident sooner."
This "brake" metaphor represents AI governance. Based on practical scenarios, the author asserts that the greatest risk of AI lies not in the technology itself but in human unpreparedness. Organizations must control input data and establish feedback mechanisms for errors to prevent serious consequences.

The work introduces an AI governance framework, guiding businesses to build an AI governance system within 90 days. Instead of merely offering guiding principles, Dao Trung Thanh provides detailed tools: risk assessment checklists, benefit-harm trade-off maps, AI system audit questionnaires, and decision-making forms. The book is suitable for leadership teams, digital transformation specialists, risk management professionals, corporate lawyers, and technical teams directly developing artificial intelligence products.
Doctor Tran Si Chuong, an economics expert and business development consultant, notes that the book's strength lies in how the author connects philosophy, management, legal aspects, and business reality. This approach ensures readers find the content relatable, understanding "how" to implement rather than just "what" to do.
Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Thi Viet Ha, a lawyer in France at IPAG Business School, Paris, believes the work's content is "both academic and highly applicable, helping to bridge the gap between law and the practical implementation of responsible AI."
Author Dao Trung Thanh is a member of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA) and former Deputy Director of the Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Institute (ABAII). He is also a pioneering expert in artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in Vietnam, with over 30 years of experience in consulting, training, and implementing digital transformation programs for the finance and banking sectors, state agencies, and enterprises.
