Lan Nha cancels Hanoi concert

Singer Lan Nha canceled his 15-year singing anniversary concert in Hanoi due to insufficient ticket sales, extending an apology to his audience.

On the evening of 26/11, the singer announced that ticket sales had not met the required standard for the show. He also expressed a desire to rally support for Central Vietnam residents to stabilize their lives after recent floods, thus postponing the concert. The event was originally scheduled for the evening of 7/12 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi.

He apologized and announced that ticket holders would receive a new album and a full refund. The singer also donated 50 million dong to those affected by the natural disaster. The second concert, planned for the evening of 20/12 at Hoa Binh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City, will proceed as scheduled.

Previously, the singer had planned two concerts to thank his audience for their encouragement throughout his career. Recently, he stopped accepting tea room performances and other shows, focusing his efforts on concert rehearsals.

Lan Nha stated that he and his team invested in various performances to create surprises. The musical selection would not focus solely on melancholic ballads but also feature vibrant, rhythmic songs spanning bossa nova, swing, jazz, and R&B. He also took dance lessons with choreographer Quang Dang.

During the live show, the singer intended to perform new songs from his upcoming album, "Nha". Hoai Sa was responsible for the arrangements, Duc Tri handled the mixing, and Korean-American sound engineer Sangwook "Sunny" Nam, a Grammy nominee, completed the mastering.

The singer, whose full name is Tran Lan Nha, is 39 years old and was born in Ho Chi Minh City. Early in his career, he was passionate about singing but lacked family support. After winning first prize at the Hoi Quan Hoi Ngo singing contest in 2008, Lan Nha gained confidence to pursue music professionally. In 2010, he competed in Vietnam Idol, reaching the top 4. After the competition, he appeared in the film "Nhung Nu Hon Ruc Ro" by director Quang Dung. He also formed a music group with Ngoc Trai, Xuan Lan, and Anh Tuan, which disbanded quickly.

For a period, Lan Nha struggled in his career, transitioning to voice acting for films. In 2017, he participated in the game show "Mat Na Ngoi Sao" as the mascot "Voi Can Thi" (Myopic Elephant), gaining significant popularity for his warm, deep voice. In 2019, he co-hosted the concert "Chang Phai Tinh Co" with Uyen Linh, the winner of Vietnam Idol 2010. The singer has many popular songs, including "Vet Nang" (Pham Hai Au), "Nhung Tieng Tho Dai" (Nguyen Minh Cuong), "Mot Thuo Yeu Nguoi" (Chinese music, Vietnamese lyrics: Khuc Lan), "Lai Gan Hon Anh" (French music, Vietnamese lyrics: Pham Duy), and "Doi Bo" (Italian music, Vietnamese lyrics: Lu Lien).
