The patient arrived at Cho Ray Hospital with severe multiple trauma in the early morning of 7/6. Teams from orthopedic trauma, emergency resuscitation, hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery, urological surgery, thoracic surgery, diagnostic imaging, and neurosurgery collaborated to assess his injuries and develop a treatment plan.
Doctors diagnosed the patient with splenic rupture, acetabular fracture, spinal fracture, vertebral dislocation, paralysis of both legs, and other complex injuries. Emergency treatment for the splenic rupture helped the patient overcome the initial critical phase, leading to his transfer to the Department of Neurosurgery for ongoing care.
On 9/6, Dr. Tran Minh Tri, Deputy Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Cho Ray Hospital, stated that the patient is currently conscious, able to converse normally, and his health is stable with positive progress; however, close monitoring is required. Following an evaluation of specialized paraclinical results, the medical team plans to perform surgery to realign and stabilize the patient's lumbar spine on 10/6. This intervention aims to facilitate earlier movement and reduce complications from prolonged immobility.

In the early morning of 7/6, a sleeper bus carrying 29 people on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, heading towards TP HCM, collided with the rear of a container truck traveling in the same direction. The front of the bus was severely deformed, injuring 19 people, most of whom were traveling from Khanh Hoa to TP HCM. The aforementioned patient sustained the most severe injuries and received first aid at a local hospital before being transferred to Cho Ray Hospital.
The Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, spanning 99 km and representing an investment of over 12,500 billion VND, connects the former Binh Thuan province with Dong Nai province. It serves as a vital transportation artery for vehicles traveling from the South Central Coast and Central Highlands to TP HCM. This route has seen a series of accidents recently, primarily attributed to drivers failing to maintain safe distances.
