The Drug Administration of Vietnam, an agency under the Ministry of Health, recently issued a decision to suspend circulation and recall cosmetic lot 503. This product, manufactured on 17/6/2025 with an expiry date of 16/6/2028, is packaged in a box containing one 10 g tube. VNP Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is responsible for marketing the product, while CPC1 Ha Noi Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company is the manufacturer.
The Drug Administration of Vietnam issued the directive after the Drug, Cosmetics, and Food Testing Center (Quang Ngai Department of Health) discovered 0,07% sorbic acid in samples from the batch. This ingredient was entirely absent from the registered formula in the product declaration dossier.
In an explanation regarding the discrepancy, the manufacturer stated that sorbic acid originated from Allium Cepa Extract (onion extract) used in the processing. However, the company failed to declare this detail in the product dossier submitted to authorities. Current regulations mandate that all ingredients in circulating cosmetic products must be fully and accurately disclosed to ensure consumer safety and facilitate regulatory oversight.
Following this violation, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has instructed provincial and city health departments to immediately notify cosmetic businesses and users in their areas to cease selling and using the aforementioned VNP TriSeo Gel. These entities must return the product to the supplier, and local authorities will closely monitor the recall process.
The two involved companies, VNP Company and CPC1 Ha Noi Company, are responsible for sending recall notifications to their distribution systems, accepting returned products, and destroying the entire faulty batch. A report on the implementation results must be submitted to the Drug Administration of Vietnam by 13/3.
The Ha Noi Department of Health has been assigned to directly inspect both companies regarding their compliance with cosmetic production and business laws and to address any violations within its authority.
Since early January, the Ministry of Health has consistently recalled and destroyed substandard products. This action comes as regulatory bodies tighten control over the pharmaceutical and cosmetic markets in response to issues of counterfeit goods, poor quality products, and false advertising. Just yesterday, the Drug Administration of Vietnam announced the recall of 131 cosmetic products from manufacturing facilities that did not meet regulatory conditions.
