On 14/4, Tan Lap Ward Police were taking statements from Y Ginta Bya, 19, residing in Cu M'gar commune, and Le Hong Hien, 16, to clarify their actions regarding property theft.
Around 2h30 on 14/4, Y Ginta and Hien spotted a 7-seat oto parked in front of a house on Hung Vuong street, Tan Lap ward. The vehicle was unlocked, and the keys were in the ignition. According to initial statements, they stole the car, planning to hide it at Y Ginta's house before finding a way to sell it for spending money.
The previous night, after three drinking sessions in Buon Ma Thuot ward, the two decided to roam the streets with the intent to steal property.
The two opened the car door, and Y Ginta took the wheel, despite neither of them possessing a driver's license nor knowing how to drive. While driving on Tran Quy Cap street, Y Ginta lost control, colliding with a truck parked on the right shoulder of the road. The car continued forward, mounting the median strip before coming to a halt.
