The police action followed an investigation by the Bien Hoa Ward Police in coordination with the Dong Nai Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department. The investigation revealed that a social media user identified as "Quach Tuong" had posted misleading information claiming that floods had submerged Hoa An bridge. This false post was widely shared, leading to public alarm.
During questioning by authorities, Tuong admitted to his actions. He stated that he had posted the information with the intention of increasing interaction on his social media account. Tuong has since removed the offending content and has pledged not to repeat the offense.
Dong Nai Police issued a public warning, emphasizing that posting false or fabricated information online carries serious consequences. Such actions not only violate the law but also contribute to public alarm and disrupt public order, particularly during periods of heavy rains and floods.
