Son slashes father during family dispute

Nguyen Thanh Son, 24, reportedly attacked his father with a knife while pursuing his younger brother during a dispute.

On 9/12, the Quang Tri Provincial Police Investigation Agency announced that it has initiated criminal proceedings and temporarily detained Nguyen Thanh Son, from Hoa Trach commune, on charges of intentionally causing injury and illegally using military weapons.

According to the investigation, around 8 p.m. on 12/10, following a family dispute, Son used a knife approximately 40 cm long to chase and attack his younger brother, Nguyen Thanh Hao.

Seeing his two sons fighting, their father, Nguyen Chi Thanh, intervened and was struck in the head by Son.

The victim was rushed to Bac Quang Tri Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment, sustaining injuries assessed at 6%. A forensic examination concluded that the knife Son used is classified as a "highly dangerous weapon".
