The Nghe An Provincial People's Court on the afternoon of 19/11 sentenced Cho, 39, residing in Muong Xen commune (formerly part of Ky Son district), for murder under Article 123 of the Penal Code. She was also ordered to pay 80 million VND in compensation to the victim's legal representative.
During the trial, Cho expressed remorse, stating that her husband's frequent flirtatious messages to other women caused her anger and led her to lose control in a fit of jealousy. She sought leniency from the court to return home sooner and atone for her actions.

The trial panel determined that the defendant's actions were dangerous to society, taking another's life, and warranted a severe sentence for deterrence. However, the court considered several mitigating factors, including Cho's surrender, honest testimony, and the victim's family's request for a reduced sentence.
In April 2025, Cho discovered her husband, Chong, regularly using his phone to send flirtatious messages. She tried to persuade him to stop, but he refused. She then informed her husband's family, hoping they would intervene and demand he end the illicit relationships. When these efforts failed, her jealousy escalated.
Authorities stated that on the evening of 4/5, Cho saw her husband still texting. Waking up in the middle of the night, consumed by thoughts of betrayal, Cho went to the kitchen, retrieved a knife, and returned to the bedroom, stabbing Chong in the abdomen. The victim awoke and resisted, and during the struggle, Cho inflicted multiple stab wounds, causing his death.
Their children, hearing their father's cries for help from the adjacent room, rushed in to intervene. Cho attempted to stab herself in the abdomen but her children stopped her.
Cho subsequently surrendered at the communal police station.
