car carrying three people plunges into ravine

a 4-seater vehicle fell into a deep ravine on a coastal mountain pass in Phuoc Dinh commune, leaving a woman severely injured, on the afternoon of the 4th day of Tet (20/2).

Around 3 p.m., a 4-seater car driven by a male driver, carrying a middle-aged couple, was traveling on the coastal DT701 road from Ninh Thuan towards Cam Ranh. Upon reaching a pass section in Phuoc Dinh commune, the car collided with a motorbike parked on the roadside. The impact caused both vehicles to tumble multiple times, falling over 4 meters into a ravine, resulting in severe damage.

According to Nghia Pham, a rescuer at the scene, after the accident, the driver and the husband managed to open their doors and climb out to call for help. The severely injured wife was carried out of the car by rescue forces and transported to the hospital.

"The pass road is quite smooth, and it is suspected the driver was drowsy and lost control of the vehicle's speed," Nghia stated.

Tran Ngoc Binh, Chairman of Phuoc Dinh commune People's Committee, said the car and motorbike were later hoisted out. All three victims reside in Cam Ranh. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

The DT701 road, over 100 km long, was opened in 2016. Along its route, it features many pristine landscapes and passes through notable locations such as: wind farms, Mui Dinh lighthouse, Ninh Chu and Binh Son beaches, and the Mongolian tourist village, attracting many adventurers and tourists seeking experiences. However, the route also includes numerous winding sections prone to accidents.
