Around 2 p.m. on 3/12, a large sinkhole suddenly appeared on Nguyen Cong Tru street in Da Nang, between the Tran Hung Dao and Ngo Quyen intersections in An Hai ward. The collapse occurred during heavy rain, swallowing two parked cars and trapping a construction worker.
Residents reported hearing a loud explosion just before the road surface and sidewalk gave way. The resulting hole measured about 20 meters long and 7 meters wide. Two cars, one white and one gray, plunged into the chasm. A worker walking by was caught in the collapse and became trapped under one of the vehicles. Fortunately, another car, parked precariously close to the edge, tilted but did not fall in. None of the vehicles were occupied at the time of the incident.

"The worker had a car on his leg and could not free himself," said a resident living near the scene. "A construction crane from a nearby site was brought in to lift the vehicle and rescue the victim." According to the witness, the road surface continued to sink slightly as the cars were being lifted, but no further damage occurred.
By 3:30 p.m., both affected cars had been recovered. One vehicle sustained a dented hood, while the other suffered front-end damage and scratches in multiple areas.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the incident.
