Around 2 p.m., a thunderstorm and whirlwind swept through wards 19A and 20 in Gia Rai ward, damaging 20 homes.
Nguyen Thi Huong, 62, a resident of ward 20, stated that before the storm, there was heavy rain followed by strong winds. While inside her house, she heard the corrugated iron roof repeatedly banging before the wind tore it off.
"I ran to a neighbor's house for shelter. More than half an hour later, when I returned, the roof was completely gone, some house pillars were broken, and it was no longer habitable," Ms. Huong stated. She is currently staying with neighbors while awaiting repairs.
