10,000 runners register 'super early' for VM Da Nang 2026

The VnExpress Da Nang International Marathon Herbalife Cup received 10,000 registrations during its three-week Super Early Bird phase, highlighting the event's growing appeal as it pursues international recognition.

The Super Early Bird registration numbers for this year's event have already surpassed the total scale of the VnExpress Marathon Da Nang 2024, which saw 8,000 runners. This figure is also nearing the 11,000 runners recorded for VM Da Nang 2025. Athlete registrations continue to climb, and the event is anticipated to set a new record in its third season hosted in the central coastal city.

This year's season draws its appeal from several factors. The event marks a strategic move towards internationalization, bolstered by the partnership with Herbalife, a brand operating in 90 countries. Organizers anticipate attracting a large number of foreign athletes, thereby showcasing Da Nang as a premier sports destination capable of hosting top elite athletes with a high-quality race course and professional operational management.

For amateur runners, Da Nang has long been a favored destination due to its convenient transportation infrastructure. The city offers a flat course with unique scenery, blending rivers, mountains, forests, and beaches. The planned race route is expected to pass through several prominent landmarks, including the Han River, iconic bridges, and the scenic My Khe beach area.

Beyond the professional aspects, the race, scheduled for 19/7, falls in the middle of the summer tourism season. This timing allows athletes to combine competing with a vacation alongside friends and family.

Nguyen Van Nam from Dong Nai shared that he will conquer the 21 km distance with his wife for the first time. His decision to choose Da Nang stems from the opportunity to combine running with beach tourism. He plans to arrive in the city mid-week, swim at My Khe beach, explore tours in Hoi An, take a train to Hue, and visit Ba Na Hills. The 32-year-old runner hopes organizers will schedule the 21 km race at a suitable time to allow for sunrise viewing over the sea.

Following the Super Early Bird phase, the event transitions to the Early Bird phase, which will run until 17/6 or conclude earlier if the planned number of athletes is reached.

During the Early Bird phase, registration fees are: 550,000 VND for the 5 km distance, 690,000 VND for the 10 km distance, 850,000 VND for the 21 km distance, and 1.05 million VND for the 42 km marathon.

One week after the marathon, VnExpress Marathon will also organize Hoiana Aquaman, a duathlon event. This marks the Aquaman brand's inaugural appearance in Hoi An, further expanding tourism and sports experiences for the community.
