Louis Buffon, the 17-year-old son of legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, made a significant impact on 12/11. He scored three goals in the second half and assisted one, helping the Czech Republic secure a dominant 6-1 win over Azerbaijan. This performance marked a strong start for the Czech Republic in the U19 European Championship qualifiers.
This match against Azerbaijan was Louis's first official tournament appearance for the U19 national team. Previously, the teenage winger had played four friendly matches without scoring. His decision to represent the Czech Republic stems from his mother's heritage; Louis is the son of Gianluigi Buffon and his ex-wife, Czech model Alena Seredova. "I discussed it with my family. Afterwards, the entire family decided that playing for the Czech Republic was the best choice for my career and my development as a footballer", Louis stated.
Despite playing internationally for the Czech Republic, Louis is developing his club career in Italy, his father's homeland. Last season, he debuted for Pisa club in Serie B under former coach Filippo Inzaghi. This season, he made his Serie A debut with new coach Alberto Gilardino.

Both Inzaghi and Gilardino were former teammates of Gianluigi Buffon during Italy's 2006 World Cup winning campaign. In addition to the World Cup trophy, the 47-year-old legend won the Best Goalkeeper award at the tournament. In the subsequent Ballon d'Or voting, Buffon finished second with 124 points, trailing only teammate Fabio Cannavaro, who received 173 points.
Gianluigi Buffon also had a successful club career, securing 10 Serie A titles with Juventus and one Ligue 1 title with PSG. The only major club trophy the legend missed out on was the Champions League, having lost three finals with Juventus in 2003, 2015, and 2017.
