Guardiola hailed the midweek victory over Fulham as one of the season's best matches. Manchester City had surged to a 5-1 lead after 50 minutes at Craven Cottage, only to concede three quick goals, forcing them to defend intensely in the closing stages to secure the three points.
This marked the first time Manchester City won an English top-flight match after conceding four goals since 12/1957, a 5-4 victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City has scored five or more goals in 41 of their 356 Premier League matches. This achievement matches Arsene Wenger's Arsenal over 828 games and trails only Alex Ferguson's Manchester United record of 44 instances in 810 matches.

“If I were watching that match at home, I wouldn't change the channel,” Guardiola stated on 5/12 during a press conference ahead of Manchester City's match against Sunderland on matchday 15 of the Premier League. “Broadcasters must be thrilled. They should thank Marco Silva, Fulham's manager, and me with a bottle of wine. I am not joking; they must be happy.”
Despite the excitement, the Spanish tactician acknowledged that Manchester City is conceding too many goals and needs to improve quickly. After 14 matchdays, Manchester City has let in 16 goals, nine more than current league leaders Arsenal.
“I do not like conceding two goals against Leeds and then four against Fulham,” Guardiola explained. “However, we are also the team that scores the most. Building on that, we must address our current issues. Defensive solidity is the responsibility of the entire squad, not solely the goalkeeper or defenders.”

Guardiola also reflected on his Manchester City debut—a 2-1 victory over Sunderland in 8/2016—and his emotions after nearly a decade on the Etihad coaching bench. “Looking back 10 years, I lack the words to describe what I have experienced,” the 54-year-old manager shared. “There have been beautiful moments, challenging periods, and wonderful people. It has been an extraordinary journey.”
Since his inaugural match, Guardiola has secured 18 titles, guiding Manchester City to historic milestones. These include four consecutive Premier League championships, winning the treble in the 2022-2023 season, and reaching 100 points in the Premier League during the 2017-2018 season.
Comparing his current emotions to his first day managing Manchester City, Guardiola noted that everything has naturally evolved over time. “It is no longer like 10 years ago. Not better or worse, just different, and that is completely normal,” he conveyed.
