Portugal wins 9-1 without Ronaldo

With Cristiano Ronaldo suspended, Portugal still defeated visiting Armenia 9-1 in their final qualifying match to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup finals.

Midfielder Bruno Fernandes, captaining the team in Ronaldo's absence, scored a hat-trick, including two penalties. Midfielder Joao Neves also contributed three goals, one a spectacular free-kick. This marks Portugal's largest victory since their 9-0 rout of Luxembourg in Euro 2024 qualifiers on 12/9/2023. Coincidentally, Ronaldo was absent from both matches.
