At the 2026 Winter Olympics, Smart and her partner Tim Dieck placed 9th in the ice dance event. Although she did not win a medal, the athlete left Italy with an engagement ring, a memory she called "unforgettable".
Jean-Luc Baker posted a video proposing to Olivia Smart in Milan.
Baker knelt to propose to his girlfriend amidst a romantic setting on the streets of Milan. In the video he posted on Instagram, titled "It's always been you", Baker documented the entire preparation process, from holding the ring in the stands while Smart competed to the moment she emotionally said "Yes" under an umbrella in the rain.
Smart also shared a series of engagement photos with the simple caption "14/2" – the day she officially became a fiancee, opening a new chapter after years as both a rival and a confidante.
The news quickly received numerous congratulatory messages from fans. Many comments expressed emotion, calling it a beautiful ending to a romance that began on the ice.
