The SEA Games 33 closing ceremony took place at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, from 7:30 PM on Saturday, 20/12. The ceremony featured artistic performances, a parade of participating delegations, and the official handover of the host flag from Thailand to Malaysia.
Malaysia will host SEA Games 34 in September 2027.
Vietnam concluded SEA Games 33 with 87 gold, 81 silver, and 110 bronze medals, securing third place overall. Thailand led the medal tally with 233 gold medals, followed by Indonesia with 91. Malaysia (57), Singapore (52), and the Philippines (50) completed the top six. The four teams at the bottom, Myanmar (3), Laos (2), Brunei (1), and Timor Leste, did not secure any gold medals.
In football, Vietnam topped the events with two gold and one silver medal. Indonesia secured one gold and one silver, while the Philippines earned one gold and one bronze. Thailand finished fourth with two silver and two bronze medals, notably being the only delegation to medal in all four football categories.
