Ba Den mountain reopens after two-month closure

The Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area Management Board has reopened hiking activities after more than two months of closure due to storm impacts.

On 10/12, representatives from the Ba Den Mountain National Tourist Area Management Board announced that hiking and outdoor activities in the area would resume from 12/12. The mountain, located in Tay Ninh, had been closed since early 10 due to Typhoon Bualoi.

Heavy rains necessitated the extended closure, causing landslides and slippery conditions on the terrain, which posed safety risks to visitors. With the reopening, the management board is initially only allowing access via the trekking route along the power pole system, known as the "Cot Dien" route.

To ensure visitor safety, regulations are in place. Hikers are permitted to start their ascent only between 5h and 11h daily. All visitors must register their information at the checkpoint located at the foot of the mountain. This measure helps the management unit monitor visitor numbers and facilitate rescue operations in emergencies.

Visitors should be aware that work to remove and dismantle the cable system along the "Cot Dien" route is still ongoing. Compliance with instructions from authorities is crucial to prevent accidents. The management unit has also provided a hotline for emergency assistance. Additionally, rules prohibit hikers from carrying explosives or chemicals, littering, harming trees, or collecting resources within the area; violations will be prosecuted.

Ba Den Mountain, standing at 986 m, holds the distinction of being the highest mountain in the Southern region. Beyond its cable car system, which transports visitors to Ba Pagoda and the summit, the mountain is a destination for young people seeking trekking experiences on weekends.
