According to Lam Nguyen, a tour guide and former lecturer at Hanoi University, choosing a comfortable seat significantly reduces fatigue on long flights. Having traveled to over 60 countries, he believes that instead of passively accepting seats, passengers can negotiate with check-in staff for their preferred spot. The first question to ask is whether the flight is full.

If the flight is full, you should request one of two positions:
- Near the emergency exit: This area offers ample space to stretch your legs. However, passengers must be over 18 years old and physically capable of assisting with opening the door in an emergency.
- Aisle seat: This position is convenient for standing up and moving around, which helps blood circulation and reduces back and neck pain.
If the flight is not full, request a seat in the last row and ask the staff to block the empty seats next to you to prevent other passengers from being assigned there. Once the plane reaches cruising altitude, passengers can raise the armrests and use this space to lie down and rest. To secure this arrangement, a polite attitude towards the check-in staff is a determining factor.

Notes:
- Do not disturb other passengers. This is why you should only request seats in the last row to minimize impact on those around you, while also increasing your chances of securing two or three adjacent seats.
- Proactively offer your seat if you are near elderly people, children, or passengers requiring assistance.
- Behave appropriately with flight attendants. In principle, they do not prohibit passengers from using empty seats, but a cooperative attitude will make your journey more comfortable.
