This year's G20 summit is themed "Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainable Development." The event will focus on four key areas: enhancing disaster resilience and response; promoting sustainable debt management for low-income nations; mobilizing finance for a just energy transition; and leveraging critical minerals for inclusive, sustainable growth.
At this summit, Vietnam will share policy messages focused on contributing to global economic growth, mitigating risks, and fostering cooperation in strategic sectors such as minerals, energy, and the reform of global trade, finance, and investment systems.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will hold numerous bilateral meetings with leaders of various countries and international organizations. These discussions aim to promote cooperation in strategic areas for Vietnam, including green transition, digital transformation, innovation, strategic infrastructure development, and high-quality human resource development. These efforts seek to maximize international resource mobilization for the nation's development goals.
The Prime Minister will also engage in bilateral activities with South Africa to strengthen relations across many sectors. These engagements will work towards realizing high-level agreements and elevating the bilateral relationship framework to a Strategic Partnership. This initiative aims to provide strong momentum for deepening ties between the two nations, benefiting both peoples and contributing to peace and development in the region and the world.
Established in 1999, the G20 comprises the G7 countries and other major economies. The group accounts for 67% of the world's population, 85% of global GDP, and 75% of international trade, making it a globally influential mechanism.
Vietnam has been invited to the G20 summit six times and has participated in several cooperation initiatives within the G20 framework. Through these engagements, Vietnam contributes to collective efforts in addressing global challenges.
