"I have self-respect and dignity, and I love my family dearly", Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican, stated on 21/11. "I do not want my beloved district to endure a toxic and hostile primary election targeting me, instigated by the very president we all once supported."
Representative Greene added that she does not want to win a midterm election that the Republican Party is likely to lose.
"I will resign; my last day of work will be 5/1/2026", Greene stated. "Standing up to defend American women who were raped, trafficked, and exploited by wealthy and powerful men from the age of 14 should not be a reason for President Donald Trump to call me a traitor and issue threats."

Marjorie Greene was once a symbol of Trump's "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement, but recently she has consistently disagreed with the US leader on many issues. She also distanced herself from Trump while he faced criticism over the cost of living in the US and the scandal involving pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
The US President first expressed disappointment with the congresswoman on 10/11, suggesting she had "lost her way". A few days later, he announced he was withdrawing all support for Representative Greene.
In a social media post on 15/11, President Trump accused Representative Greene of "betraying the party" and called her a "fake, incompetent" politician.
Representative Greene later stated that private security firms had contacted her to warn her about her safety. She added that she was facing a barrage of threats instigated by "the most powerful man in the world".
