On 21/11, President Donald Trump announced a deadline for Ukraine to accept a new US-proposed peace plan, stating, "We think 27/11 is the right time. Our goal is singular: to end the bloodshed." Speaking on Fox News Radio, Trump did not specify the reason for choosing 27/11, which coincides with Thanksgiving in the United States this year. He added that he would be willing to extend the deadline "if things progress favorably."
At a White House event on the same day, Trump reiterated his call for Ukraine to accept the US plan. When asked about reports of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's unenthusiastic reaction to the proposal, the US leader told reporters, "He will have to like it, otherwise they will just keep fighting. There will come a time when he will have to accept something." The US President warned that continued fighting would lead Ukraine to lose territories it would have to cede to Russia under his peace plan.

The White House confirmed on 20/11 that US officials had prepared a peace plan for the Ukraine conflict and submitted it to President Zelensky for review. US media reported that the plan consists of 28 points, many of which are demands Russia previously made to end the conflict.
President Zelensky admitted on 21/11 that Ukraine is facing one of its greatest historical challenges. "Ukraine faces a very difficult choice: either lose its dignity or lose a key partner," Zelensky stated. On the same day, he spoke by phone with leaders of the UK, Germany, and France, and held discussions with US Vice President JD Vance. Zelensky reported agreeing with Vance to work at the advisor level to "find a feasible path to peace." In an earlier statement, Zelensky expressed appreciation for President Trump's efforts to end the conflict, adding that Kyiv is reviewing Washington's draft proposal.
Meanwhile, three informed sources revealed that Ukraine is coordinating with the UK, Germany, and France to develop an an alternative proposal to the 28-point plan. The European countries were not consulted by Washington and all expressed strong support for Kyiv. President Vladimir Putin announced on 21/11 that Russia had received the draft US peace plan. According to the Russian leader, this plan could "lay the groundwork" for a Ukraine peace agreement. The Kremlin chief warned that Ukraine would lose more territory if it rejected the US proposal.
