Khuat Viet Hung was elected to the board of directors (BOD) of Vietjet airline for the 2022-2027 term at the annual general meeting held in late April.
Hung's appointment follows his resignation as Chairman of the Members' Council of Hanoi Metro Company Limited in early April, citing personal reasons. Born in 1974, he brings years of experience in transport operations management and traffic safety.
His career includes roles as Director of the Institute for Transport Planning and Management, Director of the International Cooperation Center for Transport Training and Research, Director of the Transport Department, and full-time Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

The general meeting of shareholders also elected Nguyen Thanh Son, the chief operating officer, as an additional BOD member. Son was appointed general director, replacing Dinh Viet Phuong, effective 29/4. Phuong now serves as Vice Chairman of Vietjet's BOD.
For 2026, Vietjet plans for a consolidated revenue of 86,774 billion VND, marking a 23,5% increase from 2025. Consolidated pre-tax profit is projected to rise by 14,5% to 2,421 billion VND.
Vietjet aims to increase its fleet to 115 aircraft this year. The low-cost airline also plans to expand its international flight network, targeting markets in Europe and the US.
Last year, the airline, led by billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, operated 135 aircraft, with 101 based in Vietnam. It managed 254 routes, serving 28,2 million passengers on over 153,000 flights.
Vietjet continues its fleet expansion with orders for 100 A321neo aircraft and 50 additional purchase options from Airbus, alongside 20 wide-body A330neo aircraft. These substantial orders position Vietjet among the airlines with the largest order backlogs worldwide.
