Ngo Giai Ni, 43, garnered significant attention after discussing her divorce from actor Ma Canh Dao in a social media video on 15/3. The couple married in 2007, with Giai Ni giving birth to their first child that same year and their second son in 2009. At the time, Ma Canh Dao asked her to stop working to focus on raising their young children and managing the household.

Ngo Giai Ni initially found the suggestion reasonable. After starting her family, she stopped acting to dedicate herself to her children. Over time, however, numerous conflicts arose within the family. Ngo Giai Ni felt increasingly frustrated, stating she "lost her dignity and self-worth".

The actress elaborated: "When you are economically dependent at home, the man often believes you have food and possessions because of him, and therefore, you must obey him. This led to many arguments. That period was truly painful for me; I lost my self-esteem, felt worthless, and believed no one respected me".

In 2017, the couple announced their divorce. Their two children live with Ngo Giai Ni, and Ma Canh Dao provides financial support as agreed upon by both parties. Giai Ni has previously shared on her social media that she and her ex-husband maintain a friendly relationship, occasionally posting photos of Ma Canh Dao visiting their two sons.

Following the divorce, Ngo Giai Ni resumed her acting career. In recent years, she has appeared in "Tay Ha Tu Thu", "Hon Nhan Cua Chung Toi", "Van Thien", and "Nhat Kien Khuynh Tam". During the 2000s, she made her mark in series such as "Luc Tieu Phuong Truyen Ky", "Tan Phong Than Bang", and "Thieu Nien Duong Gia Tuong".

Prior to his marriage with Ngo Giai Ni, Ma Canh Dao had been married once before and had a daughter from that union. The 64-year-old actor was once a leading star in Hong Kong, renowned for his roles in numerous works such as "Y Thien Do Long Ky 1994" (as Truong Vo Ky), "Mai Hoa Tam Long", "Ngay Mai Troi Lai Sang", "Tru Vuong", and "Dong Du Ky". In recent years, he has appeared in fewer films, primarily participating in television shows and performing at events.

Last year, Ma Canh Dao publicly revealed he has a "wonderful girlfriend" named Jane, who works outside the entertainment industry. On Douyin, Jane shared that they have been together for about two years. She mentioned that her father is the same age as Ma Canh Dao, but her parents did not oppose the relationship, as they indulge their daughter and allow her to make her own decisions.

Jane accepts Ma Canh Dao's past and does not inquire about his two previous marriages. She also disclosed that she watched many of his films as a child and idolized him.
