Ha Tinh police began investigating the incident on 2/6.

Thanh told police that after 17:00 on 30/5, at his residence in Cam Trung commune (formerly Cam Xuyen district), he had an argument with about 5 people from Thanh Sen ward regarding a debt. During the heated exchange, one person from the opposing group fired a gun, injuring Thanh in the arm, shoulder, and chin area.

The victim ran into a room, locked the door, and called the police. The group then left the scene in an oto.

Relatives took Thanh to the Orthopedic Trauma Department at Ha Tinh General Hospital for emergency treatment. His condition is now stable.

According to Thanh, he had previously mortgaged his land use rights certificate to a man in Thanh Sen ward for a 350 million dong loan. By the end of May, he had repaid almost all of the principal and interest, but still owed over 30 million dong. On the day of the incident, the two parties discussed this remaining debt, leading to the dispute.
