Initial reports indicated that shop owner Lam Van Duoc was absent. Three female employees were working inside when Huy poured gasoline throughout the shop area, prompting them to flee in panic.
Minutes later, flames erupted. Responding to the alarm, the Ca Mau Provincial Police Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Force deployed personnel and equipment to the scene to extinguish the blaze.
The fire damaged many items inside the laundry shop. After the blaze was controlled, authorities found Huy severely burned and transported him to Bac Lieu General Hospital for emergency treatment.
The Kimbeley laundry shop, measuring about 80 square meters, is situated in a densely populated residential area. Although three individuals were working inside at the time, they escaped unharmed, and no adjacent properties were affected.
Authorities have sealed off the scene and are investigating the fire's cause and the man's motive.
