Police are investigating a suspected poisoning attempt after a 46-year-old man in Me Pu 4 hamlet, Nam Thanh commune, found pesticide in his boiling tea water.
Doan Cong Hoa, Chairman of Nam Thanh Commune People's Committee, confirmed on 26/5 that authorities are actively investigating the incident.
The man reported to commune police yesterday that he suspected a relative had put pesticide into his water with the intent to poison him.
On the morning of the incident, he began boiling water for his tea as usual. Realizing he had run out of tea, he rode his motorbike to a nearby grocery store, leaving the pot of water on the stove.
Approximately 10 minutes after returning home, as he lifted the lid to prepare his tea, he noticed the water had turned cloudy, was frothy, and emitted a distinct smell of pesticide.
