Le Van Giap, 41, was working on Nguyen Trai Street in Tan Ky Commune on the morning of 9/7 when he heard a loud crash. He saw a car drifting down the street, hitting 4 motorbikes before colliding with a pole.
Several people tried to open the car doors, but they were locked. Inside, the driver appeared to be having a seizure, eyes rolled back, and unconscious. Giap used a metal bar to pry open the rear window, carefully avoiding the driver. Once inside, he turned off the engine and pulled the driver out.
Another bystander performed CPR, but the driver remained unresponsive. They then drove him to the Tan Ky Medical Center, 5 km away.
A representative of the Tan Ky Medical Center said the 43-year-old patient, a resident of Tan An Commune, Nghe An Province, was admitted unconscious. Medical staff performed CPR, administered oxygen, took an electrocardiogram, and provided prompt treatment. The initial diagnosis was a coma of unknown cause.
By the afternoon, the patient's condition had stabilized, and he was being monitored in the Intensive Care Unit.

The video of Giap and the Tan Ky Commune residents rescuing the driver has been widely shared on social media, garnering praise. Many called Giap a "hero" for his quick thinking. However, Giap attributed his actions to the collective effort of everyone present. “What I did wasn’t extraordinary. At that moment, my only thought was to get the man out of danger as quickly as possible," he said.
