Consumers prioritize health and natural origins when choosing seasonings

Safe products, natural origins, authentic flavors, and convenience are the top criteria for today's consumers when purchasing sugar and other seasonings.

According to a 2024 nationwide online survey conducted by the Vietnam High-Quality Goods Business Association, 69% of consumers prioritize products that are good for their health or meet certified quality standards.

"Consumers not only value quality and price, but are increasingly concerned about health benefits. The trend of choosing 'green' and 'clean' environmentally friendly products or those with certified quality standards has become a top priority," a member of the survey organizing committee observed.

With sugar, a familiar seasoning, consumers also prioritize quality and safety to ensure the well-being of themselves and their families.

Pham Phuong Hang, a resident of TP HCM, shared that sugar is an indispensable seasoning in her cooking, from braised dishes and soups to sauces and dips, so she always prioritizes product quality. Products need to be "green, clean, and healthy," with natural origins and safe for health. "Besides cooking, I also use sugar in orange juice, daily coffee, and occasionally baking, so I pay even more attention to sugar quality," Hang added.

One factor ensuring product safety for consumers is natural, non-genetically modified organisms (Non-GMO) ingredients. The Non-GMO label on sugar product packaging is also a criterion many consumers look for when choosing this seasoning. Non-GMO means that the food does not contain ingredients from crops whose gene structure has been altered, ensuring their natural and healthy properties.

Besides safety and natural ingredients, consumers also value delicious taste and convenience when choosing seasonings. With today's fast-paced life, home cooks prioritize solutions that optimize time while ensuring meal quality.

According to a representative of Bien Hoa Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company, the trend of "natural, healthy, and convenient" when choosing food and seasonings has become the guiding principle for the company's development of Natural Cane Sugar (granulated brown sugar) and Cane Syrup (liquid form).

First, both products are made from 100% natural, Non-GMO sugarcane, ensuring natural properties and biosafety, and delivering a natural flavor. Thanks to modern production technology, Natural Cane Sugar retains the maximum amount of natural vitamins and minerals from sugarcane, such as calcium, zinc, and iron. This product also retains the natural molasses surrounding the sugar granules, giving it a natural golden brown color and a pleasant, mildly sweet taste. This also contributes to the attractive color and delicious flavor of seasoned dishes.

Meanwhile, the breakthrough of Cane Syrup lies in the application of modern enzyme technology to ensure consumer health. Sugarcane hydrolyzed by enzymes offers several advantages over acid hydrolysis, resulting in more stable, cleaner, and higher quality sugar with a plant-based origin. Thanks to these advantages, Cane Syrup is increasingly used as a replacement for sweeteners made from genetically modified corn and hydrolyzed by acid. Notably, the liquid form dissolves quickly, even in cold water, saving users processing time. The liquid form also makes it easy to measure and adjust each milliliter according to recipes, allowing users to easily season accurately, fitting the cooking preferences of many young people today.

"Whether young people are pursuing 'restaurant-standard' recipes or busy home cooks need quick and healthy solutions for the whole family, Cane Syrup is suitable," the brand representative said.

A representative of Bien Hoa Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company shared that the duo of Natural Cane Sugar and Cane Syrup embodies Bien Hoa's understanding of and response to modern consumer trends. Meeting the criteria of natural, safe, authentic flavor, and convenient, these two products can be considered "effective assistants" for today's home cooks.
