Financial literacy workshops launched for gen z

Over 500 students attended the opening event of the "financial peace of mind for generation z" workshop series on 23/6, learning about budgeting, saving, and investing.

The "Financial peace of mind for generation z - from surviving to thriving" workshop series is co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Student Association and the Ho Chi Minh City National University Student Union, with support from Home Credit. The program kicked off on 23/6 at the University of Finance - Marketing (Ho Chi Minh City), marking the beginning of a year-long journey to enhance personal finance management skills for students in 2025.

This is also the first activity in the Home Smart - University Tour 2025 series. At the opening workshop, over 500 students attended, asking practical questions about managing expenses, building personal financial plans, and taking control of their lives.

A Home Credit representative stated the workshop series aims to equip students with fundamental personal finance knowledge and skills. Topics include assessing "financial health," setting specific goals, and creating financial plans for different stages of education and employment. Speakers also shared real-life scenarios, spending tips, and sound investment strategies, helping young people visualize their path to financial freedom.

Speakers from diverse fields brought multi-faceted perspectives, engaging real-world scenarios, and relatable approaches. Students not only learned smart spending tips and long-term savings strategies but also gained practical lessons, inspiring them and providing a solid foundation for their journey toward financial freedom.

Bui Xuan Khoi, a second-year student at the University of Finance - Marketing, shared after the event that the workshop offered valuable knowledge and opportunities. He learned how to better manage personal finances through practical and relatable financial tips, and had the chance to meet and hear directly from the speakers. "They inspired me and motivated me to improve myself, preparing for my journey ahead," Khoi said.

In addition to in-depth content on budgeting, balancing expenses, and suitable investment channels for students, the event included interactive activities such as giving away financial books, guiding free e-book downloads, and offering gifts from the sponsor, Home Credit Vietnam.

The University Tour 2025 is part of Home Credit Vietnam's long-term commitment to improving financial literacy in the community, especially among young people. Earlier, in Quarter I/2025, the company organized financial management training sessions for women in Thanh Hoa, Dien Bien, and Hanoi, in collaboration with the Capital Women's Newspaper and the Vietnam Women's Union.

The program builds on the content of the "Financial Handbook for Women" with practical and easy-to-understand examples, providing participants with tools to control their finances and improve their quality of life.

On digital platforms, Home Credit also continuously updates content on using financial tools, preventing fraud, and smart financial consumption knowledge through social media like Facebook, TikTok, and the Home App.

In 2024, the company's financial literacy activities reached over 11,000 students, with online content attracting over 12 million views. Home Credit also organized social campaigns such as collecting 1.6 tons of used clothes from employees for recycling, supporting over 2,700 children through the Home Love initiative, and renovating three schools.

According to the plan, the University Tour 2025 workshop series will continue at the Ho Chi Minh City Banking University in September, before expanding to universities in Da Nang such as the University of Economics and the University of Science and Technology. Each destination will not only be an opportunity for students to access practical knowledge but also a chance for them to learn how to invest in themselves from the basics: understanding the value of money and managing it responsibly.
