This coastal city, one of Vietnam's most attractive tourist destinations, boasts unique advantages in terms of nature, infrastructure, and living environment. Many experts believe Nha Trang is transitioning from a short-term destination to a long-term choice for those seeking a sustainable lifestyle.

A pleasant living environment
Nha Trang's greatest advantage is its natural environment. The city enjoys a mild climate, rarely affected by storms, and benefits from many hours of sunshine throughout the year. Its diverse landscape, a combination of beaches and mountains, creates not only scenic beauty but also helps regulate the air temperature. Residents and visitors alike often praise the weather and air quality, which are considered superior to those of larger cities.
Beyond its natural attributes, Nha Trang's urban spaces remain uncluttered. According to a mid-2024 survey by the General Statistics Office, Khanh Hoa province has a population of over 1.27 million, with a density of approximately 219 people per square kilometer, which is low compared to many developed provinces. Urban planning that limits dense construction prevents infrastructure overload and maintains a good quality of life.
The cost of living is another significant plus. Data from Batdongsan.com reveals that apartments between 30 and 60 square meters in Nha Trang rent for 4.5 to 10 million VND per month, suitable for working individuals or small families. High-end beachfront apartments command rents of 12 to 18 million VND. Houses near the city center can be rented for 3 to 5 million VND per month, demonstrating flexibility in housing options and prices.
"The cost of living here is lower than in Ho Chi Minh City, but there are still enough amenities for a comfortable life," shared Hoang Yen, a finance professional who moved to Nha Trang earlier this year.

A diverse community
Nha Trang attracts not only young people seeking quality living at reasonable prices but also foreign experts, retirees, and remote workers. They appreciate the moderate pace of life, tranquil environment, and strong sense of community.
A VnExpress survey of over 47,000 participants revealed that 85% consider Nha Trang a desirable place to live. The largest demographic (68.7%) was the 31-45 age group, those with clear settlement needs and stable finances. The remaining participants were aged 16-30 (17.8%) and 46-60 (12.5%), indicating interest across multiple generations.
Le Van Thanh, a 62-year-old retired teacher from Hanoi, chose Nha Trang for its warm climate and cost of living, which aligns with his pension. "I want to live near the sea to improve my health and enjoy my retirement in a pleasant environment," he stated.
Developed infrastructure and convenient transportation
In addition to its pleasant living conditions, Nha Trang boasts a comprehensive transportation system. Cam Ranh International Airport, approximately 35 km from the city center, offers direct connections to numerous domestic and international destinations. The North-South Railway, National Highway 1A, and the North-South Expressway all pass through the area, facilitating inter-regional travel.
Within the city, main roads like Tran Phu, Pham Van Dong, and Vo Nguyen Giap connect the center to surrounding areas. Tran Phu, stretching nearly 8 km along the coast, is known as Nha Trang's most beautiful street.
Nha Trang is also undertaking large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the 4.3 km Tran Phu tunnel and the Phu Kieng bridge. These projects will improve the transportation network and enhance quality of life.
Ample amenities and a stable job market
Nha Trang offers residents a wide range of hospitals, schools, and shopping centers. Public and private healthcare facilities like Khanh Hoa General Hospital and Military Hospital 87 are well-equipped. In terms of education, in addition to the public school system, Nha Trang is home to universities like Nha Trang University, Khanh Hoa University, and Nha Trang Tourism College.
The job market remains stable thanks to growth in sectors like services, tourism, education, healthcare, and commerce. Some companies have reported an increase in applicants relocating from larger cities for long-term work and living.

Sustainable development
Khanh Hoa province's development plan to 2030, with a vision to 2050, aims to establish the region as an international coastal tourism hub while promoting marine economic development and science and technology. Nha Trang is designated as the political, economic, and cultural center, and the gateway to international integration for the central coastal region.
The city is developing a multi-polar model, reducing pressure on the city center by expanding living spaces northward and westward. Projects like Libera Nha Trang, The Forest Hill, and Vinpearl Phu Quy are driving sustainable urbanization.
Furthermore, policies protecting the marine environment and controlling building height and density are prioritized. Nha Trang strives to preserve its natural landscape while modernizing.
Experts believe that with its existing foundation and clear development direction, Nha Trang is becoming a model coastal city, balancing economic growth and environmental preservation. The bay city is not just attractive to tourists but also a place many choose to call home.
After the merger, the former Nha Trang city was divided into 4 wards: Bac Nha Trang, Nha Trang, Tay Nha Trang, and Nam Nha Trang. Among them, Bac Nha Trang ward is considered to have the most development potential, with ample land, a reasonable population, and a location nestled between the bay and mountains, thus fully benefiting from the natural conditions, climate, and living environment of Nha Trang bay city.

Khanh Hoa province is currently focusing on the development of Bac Nha Trang, attracting residents and labor. Transportation infrastructure connecting to this area is being prioritized, including the Phu Kieng Bridge project with a total investment of nearly 600 billion VND, scheduled for 2024-2027. The project aims to improve transportation for residents, develop infrastructure, connect the southern and northern parts of Nha Trang, and promote urban development.
