10 teams advance to FIFA Club World Cup round of 16

As of the morning of 25/6, Atletico Madrid is the only contender eliminated from the group stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Following the latest round of matches, 10 teams have secured their spots in the round of 16: Palmeiras, Inter Miami (Group A), PSG, Botafogo (Group B), Benfica, Bayern (Group C), Flamengo, Chelsea (Group D), Juventus, and Man City (Group G).

Atletico is the only top contender eliminated early. The Spanish team finished with 6 points, the same as PSG and Botafogo, but lost out on the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Three other surprises include Inter Miami advancing from Group A ahead of the favored Porto, Benfica topping Group C over Bayern, and Flamengo leading Group D ahead of Chelsea.

Matches on 26/6 and 27/6 will decide the remaining six spots in Groups E, F, and H. River Plate and Inter currently lead Group E with 4 points each, two points ahead of third-place Monterrey. In the first two rounds, Monterrey drew 1-1 with Inter and 0-0 with River Plate. If Monterrey defeats the already eliminated Urawa Red Diamonds in their final match, they will advance if the River Plate-Inter match has a winner.

If Monterrey wins and River Plate draws with Inter, Group E will have a three-way tie at 5 points. The head-to-head records will then determine the final standings, considering head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, and head-to-head goals scored. If River Plate and Inter draw 2-2 or higher, they will both advance.

Fluminense and Dortmund lead Group F with 4 points each, just one point ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns. Dortmund holds the advantage, facing the eliminated Ulsan in the final round, while Fluminense must play Mamelodi Sundowns. The two teams advancing from Group F will face the two teams from Group E in the round of 16.

Group H mirrors Group E. Real Madrid and Salzburg lead with 4 points each, having drawn 1-1 and 0-0, respectively, with third-place Al Hilal. If Real Madrid and Salzburg draw 2-2 or higher in the final round, they will both advance. However, if there's a winner in that match, Al Hilal needs only to defeat Pachuca to secure a spot in the next round.

Juventus and Man City, both with 6 points and a goal difference of +8, secured their advancement after the first two matches in Group G. The Italian team currently leads due to scoring one more goal (9 compared to 8). Their final match will decide the group winner. Juventus needs only a draw to secure the top spot, while Man City must win. The second-place team in Group G will likely face Real Madrid, the leader of Group H, in the round of 16.
