To reach the second round against Alcaraz, world number 733 Tarvet had to win 4 consecutive matches, including three qualifying rounds and one main draw match against Leandro Riedi. Tarvet played confidently against the world number two, but ultimately lost in straight sets, failing to capitalize on crucial points.

In the first game, the British player had three break points, and throughout the first set, he had 8 opportunities to break serve but missed them all. Alcaraz, on the other hand, broke his opponent's serve twice, closing out the set 6-1.
In the following two sets, Tarvet managed to break Alcaraz's serve once in each set but still lost 4-6. Serving wasn't the 21-year-old's strength, often struggling to hold. Alcaraz broke the home favorite's serve twice in each of those sets.
"I like Tarvet's game," Alcaraz praised his opponent. "This was only his second main draw match, and it was on Centre Court with a lot of pressure. Yet, Tarvet played great tennis, forcing me to focus and fight for every point to win."
Tarvet made his mark by qualifying for the main draw while still an amateur. The third-year university student is the first British player still in college to reach the main draw at Wimbledon in over a decade. With his run to the second round of Wimbledon, Tarvet is guaranteed to enter the top 400 in the world rankings, a jump of around 300 places from his pre-Wimbledon ranking.
Alcaraz extended his winning streak to 16 matches at Wimbledon, having won the championship the past two years. In the third round, he will face either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Jan-Lennard Struff. Alcaraz's side of the draw also saw the exits of two other seeds: Jiri Lehecka (23) lost to Mattia Bellucci, and Frances Tiafoe (12) was defeated by Cameron Norrie.
15 men's singles seeds have been eliminated after the first three days of play. In the women's singles draw, the number is 16. 4 of the top 5 women's seeds have exited the tournament, the latest being fourth seed Jasmine Paolini, who lost to Kamilla Rakhimova in three sets. Top seed Aryna Sabalenka remains in contention after defeating Marie Bouzkova 7-6, 6-4.
