Arsenal introduces Gyokeres before Newcastle victory

New signing Viktor Gyokeres, worth 86 million USD, met fans and teammates before watching Arsenal's 3-2 friendly win against Newcastle in Singapore.

Gyokeres completed his medical in London and signed a 5-year contract with Arsenal on 26/7. The Swedish striker then flew to Singapore to join his new club for their Asian tour.

Viktor Gyokeres makes his debut at the Singapore National Stadium.

He arrived at the Singapore National Stadium wearing a white shirt and black trousers. After greeting the Arsenal staff, the 27-year-old center-forward changed into an Arsenal jersey with the number 14 and waved to the fans.

Gyokeres' presence seemed to motivate Kai Havertz, Arsenal's most advanced attacker. The German forward started and played a role in Arsenal's two first-half goals, turning the game around after Anthony Elanga opened the scoring in the 6th minute.

In the 33rd minute, Havertz received a pass from Leandro Trossard, controlled the ball with his right foot, then laid it off with his left for Mikel Merino to score with a first-time shot past a stranded Nick Pope. Two minutes later, the German player crossed from the left, leading to an own goal by defender Alex Murphy.

In the second half, Jacob Murphy leveled the score at 2-2 with a shot from outside the box. Manager Mikel Arteta then brought on 15-year-old Max Dowman, who immediately made an impact.

In the 82nd minute, Dowman burst into the penalty area from the right wing and was brought down by Joelinton, earning a penalty. Captain Martin Odegaard converted the spot-kick with a powerful shot to the left, securing a 3-2 victory.

After the Singapore tour, Gyokeres and his teammates will travel to Hong Kong for a friendly against Tottenham on 31/7, before returning to London to face Villarreal on 6/8 and Bilbao on 9/8.
