Following the preliminary and qualifying rounds, 32 players advanced to the main draw of the 3-cushion Billiards World Cup in Porto. They were divided into eight groups of four, with the top two players from each group progressing to the next round.
Six Vietnamese players qualified for the tournament: Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Thanh Luc, Chiem Hong Thai, Thon Viet Hoang Minh, and Dao Van Ly.

Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien were drawn into Group D, alongside Peter Ceulemans (Belgium) and Nikos Polychronopoulos (Greece). This marks the third consecutive meeting between the two Vietnamese players. At the Ankara (Turkey) World Cup in June, Vinh defeated Chien in the group stage. Chien went on to finish as the runner-up, while Vinh was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
More recently, Bao Phuong Vinh defeated Tran Quyet Chien 50-44 in the final of the International 3-cushion Carom Billiards tournament in Ho Chi Minh City on 1/6, claiming the 500 million VND prize.
Thon Viet Hoang Minh and Dao Van Ly, also from Vietnam, were drawn into Group B. They will compete against Cho Myung-woo (South Korea) and Rui Manuel Costa (Portugal).
Chiem Hong Thai is in Group C with Eddy Merckx (Belgium), Jose Miguel Soares (Portugal), and Ruben Legazpi (Spain). Tran Thanh Luc is in Group E with Berkay Karakurt (Turkey), Jose Juan Garcia (Colombia), and Jeremy Bury (France).
The group stage matches will take place at 4 PM, 6 PM, and 8 PM Hanoi time on 3/7, and at 2 AM on 4/7.
