Lewandowski and young talent Yamal were each fined 5,000 euros (over 5,800 USD) for "non-compliance with doping control officer's instructions" and "failure to immediately report to the doping control station", as per Articles 21.8 and 21.10(a) of the UEFA Anti-Doping Regulations.
Coach Hansi Flick received a one-match suspension for violating "general principles of conduct" and "basic standards of decent conduct", according to Articles 11(1) and 11(2)(b) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations. The German coach was also fined 20,000 euros (over 23,000 USD).
Assistant coach Marcus Sorg received the same suspension and fine. This means neither Flick nor Sorg can be in the technical area for Barca's opening match of the 2025-2026 Champions League season, requiring the team to find a replacement.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca has requested the basis and reasoning behind UEFA's disciplinary action against Flick and Sorg to consider a possible appeal. Because UEFA's match report is not public, the team is unsure if referee Szymon Marciniak added any supplementary notes or details of the conduct that led to the charges against Flick and Sorg.

Barca speculates the sanctions may be related to excessive reactions, given UEFA cited two articles in the Disciplinary Regulations. Article 11.1 requires all organizations and individuals to comply with the Laws of the Game, UEFA regulations and decisions, and maintain principles of ethical conduct, loyalty, integrity and sportsmanship. Article 11.2 allows for sanctions against conduct that is "insulting or otherwise violates the basic rules of decent conduct".
Flick received a yellow card in the final minutes of the tense match. In the post-match press conference, he openly criticized the officiating, claiming all 50-50 decisions favored Inter.
The defeat against Inter eliminated Barca from the Champions League. Despite this setback, Flick's team won all three domestic titles last season: La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Barca will begin the new season against Mallorca in the first round of La Liga on 16/8.
