Coach Kim Sang-sik holds press conference before SEA Games 33 final

Coach Kim Sang-sik is set to hold a press conference, providing updates on Vietnam's preparation and an assessment of tomorrow's 18/12 match against host Thailand in the SEA Games 33 men's football final.

The press conference will take place at 10:30 AM at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok. Coach Kim Sang-sik will attend alongside center-back Pham Ly Duc.

Vietnam topped Group B after defeating Laos 2-1 and Malaysia 2-0. In the semi-finals, the team further defeated the Philippines 2-0. Meanwhile, Thailand's journey saw them defeat Timor Leste 6-1, Singapore 3-0, and Malaysia 1-0.

This marks the third time Vietnam has reached the SEA Games men's football final in the last four editions. In the 2019 edition in the Philippines and the 2022 edition on home soil, Vietnam defeated Indonesia 3-0 and Thailand 1-0, respectively. Thailand's most recent gold medal came at the 2017 SEA Games, with a 1-0 victory over host Malaysia.

Vietnam and Thailand have met five times in SEA Games finals. Thailand won four of these matches, in 1995 (4-0), 1999 (2-0), 2003 (2-1 after extra time), and 2005 (3-0). Vietnam, however, secured a 1-0 victory in 2022, thanks to Nham Manh Dung's header late in the match.
