Coach Kim Sang-sik attended the post-match press conference after Vietnam defeated hosts Indonesia 1-0 in the final of the 2025 AFF U23 Championship. The only goal was scored by midfielder Nguyen Cong Phuong, born in 2006.

Vietnam became the first team to win three consecutive AFF U23 Championships. Kim Sang-sik also became the first coach to secure two Southeast Asian titles at two different national team levels in the same year. This is also the South Korean coach's 4th official tournament since arriving in Vietnam, following the second round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers - Asian zone, the 2024 ASEAN Cup, and the final round of 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
