Djokovic dominated the match, conceding only five games and saving both break points he faced. Evans, on the other hand, had one of the worst matches of his career, winning only 28% of points on his second serve and losing six of 16 break points.

Djokovic's performance was impressive, hitting 46 winners and committing only 14 unforced errors. The 38-year-old faced some resistance in the first set when Evans was still energetic and enthusiastic. After missing seven consecutive break points in two return games mid-set, Djokovic capitalized on his opportunity in the eighth game and held serve to win 6-3.
The remaining two sets were one-sided, with Evans unable to generate the close games he's known for. His slice-heavy game was neutralized by Djokovic's anticipation and ability to hit to difficult spots. In the final game of the third set, trailing 0-5, Evans made a late surge but missed a break point and lost the set 6-0.
Four years ago, Evans upset Djokovic in straight sets at the 2021 Monte Carlo Masters. Despite dropping over 100 places in the rankings over the past two years, Evans remains a challenging opponent for top players. He reached the quarterfinals of the Eastbourne International last week, defeating Tommy Paul. However, against the experienced and high-caliber Djokovic, Evans was completely outmatched.
Djokovic surpassed Roger Federer for most appearances in the Wimbledon men's singles third round, with 19. If he defeats compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic in the next round, Djokovic will reach 100 Wimbledon match wins. He is aiming for an even bigger milestone: equaling Federer's record of eight Wimbledon titles.
"19 times? That’s probably close to the age of Sinner and Alcaraz," Djokovic joked about his new record in the post-match press conference. "It means that I’ve been playing tennis for quite a long time, and I still enjoy it. Wimbledon has always been a special tournament in my heart. History is being made, and I’m in a very unique position to make some more."
Djokovic hasn't won a Grand Slam in almost two years but claimed his 100th ATP title in May at the Geneva Open. His win-loss record this season is 23-8.
