The National Bank Open began on 26/7 in Bouchard's home country of Canada, where she received a wildcard entry. "Everyone knows where the end is. For me, it’s now," she posted on social media. "Ending it where it all began: Montreal."

Bouchard was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 25/2/1994. Her first tennis club was also in Montreal. She rose to global prominence in 2014, becoming the first Canadian-born player to reach the Wimbledon women's singles final, though she lost to Petra Kvitova. That same year, Bouchard reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and Roland Garros, climbing to a career-high ranking of number five in the world.
With her tennis skills and attractive appearance, Bouchard was dubbed the "world's hottest tennis player" by publications like The Sun. Her looks rivaled those of "Russian Doll" Maria Sharapova and Ana Ivanovic. Bouchard was considered a pioneer of Canadian tennis.
However, her career declined after suffering a concussion at the 2015 US Open. Since then, she struggled with injuries and declining form. In the past five years, Bouchard has not reached the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament.

Despite her declining performance, Bouchard remained a popular figure, active in fashion, modeling, and on social media. She was among the top 10 highest-paid female athletes in the world in 2017 and 2018, according to Forbes magazine, despite not reaching the 4th round of any Grand Slam during that period.
Recently, Bouchard participated in several professional pickleball tournaments, including a victory over the world's number three player, Lea Jansen. She has also continued her fashion and modeling pursuits, which she will likely focus on after retirement.
