Green SM supports track lighting at Can Gio marathon

Thirty Green SM electric cars will serve as flexible lighting sources along the VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio 2026 race course on 1/5.

The VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio, starting at 4 a.m., requires optimal lighting conditions for its 5,000 runners. Ensuring sufficient light is crucial for meeting professional standards and athlete safety.

Green SM addresses this need by deploying a flexible lighting model, utilizing 30 electric cars positioned at key intersections and critical areas along the race course between 4 and 6 a.m. Unlike traditional generators, which produce noise and emissions, the lighting system powered by electric vehicles operates without impacting the surrounding environment.

This eco-friendly approach aligns with the unique characteristics of Can Gio, an area known for its strictly preserved mangrove ecosystem, which is highly sensitive to external disturbances. According to a company representative, this solution also reinforces the "Green Paradise" message of the race, as all operational elements aim to minimize negative environmental impact.

Using a fleet of vehicles as a light source offers flexibility. Instead of relying on fixed lighting systems, the cars can be repositioned as the race progresses. This allows organizers to respond quickly to unforeseen situations while maintaining stable light intensity, thanks to the vehicles' LED technology and battery systems.

Green SM's innovative solution has received significant support from athletes. Many runners stated that consistent lighting is vital for maintaining pace and ensuring safety, especially during the pre-dawn hours when visibility is limited.

The VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio is the latest addition to the VnExpress Marathon series. Since its announcement, the race has been well-received by the running community. Registration closed after just 10 days, reaching its limit of 5,000 athletes. A distinctive feature of the event is its route, which passes through the Vinhomes Green Paradise urban area and winds through the Can Gio mangrove forest.

Green SM serves as the official transport partner for the event. After three years of operation, the company has become a leading all-electric transport platform in Southeast Asia, with a presence in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The company reports operating over 186,000 electric cars and motorbikes, facilitating more than 620 million trips, covering a total distance of approximately 4,2 billion km. These efforts have contributed to cutting 580,000 tons of CO2, equivalent to the absorption capacity of 27 million trees annually.

Hoai Phuong

To support athletes and visitors traveling to Can Gio during the VnExpress Marathon Green Paradise Can Gio 2026, Green SM is offering a special promotion from 29/4 to 1/5. During this period, all rides originating from or destined for the event area will receive a 20% discount, capped at 50,000 VND, applicable across all service categories.
